Christmas shopping is in full swing for most… except for me. I haven’t even started yet! I thrive under pressure. Do you? If you’re like me and need to get your shop on for the holiday season, then this post is for you!
Our gift choices are more important this year. The holiday season is meant to be joyful, and yet we can’t forget that the past 9 months have been difficult for small business owners. Many were forced to close while they watched big box stores flourish. So please, take a few moments to look over this list of local and small businesses to support this holiday season.
Spread a little holiday cheer to these amazing businesses, their dedicated founders, and their employees. I know they appreciate every single order, and every person who champions their work!

Flinchy’s and Home Slice are both owned by the Flinchbaugh Family. Flinchy’s was established in 2003. “We have the Train Wreck Deck with a 360 degree bar and table seating. Inside is a high energy New York Style neighborhood bar”. Home Slice, which opened in 2019 serves a few of Flinchy’s Signature items along with Pizzas, subs, salads and even ice cream from Urban Churn another Harrisburg local.
These two restaurants are our family’s go to spots. Flinchy’s is your local bar where “everyone knows your name” and you know half of the people eating there when you go. It’s the kind of place you go to for happy hour and end up staying through dinner (or later). The service is friendly and fast and the food is awesome. Home Slice is our fave pizza shop and their GiGi pizza is a must try. They also have gluten free and vegan options.
Matt Flinchbaugh and I go back 20 plus years ago when I was a waitress and he was a Bartender at restaurant in downtown Harrisburg. Matt and his family are just really good people. A few years back Matt raised a record setting $275,000 as “Man of the year” for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. He continues to be a part of that organization and serve his community.
The restaurant business has been hit the hardest the last 9 months. Think about them next time you go out to dinner or order out! I’ll be hosting a giveaway for them in the coming days so keep an eye on my IG for that!

Her clients benefit from personalized service whether it’s creating unique wrapping paper for their child’s birthday, or creating an impactful, modern brand that helps their business stand out from the crowd.
I was so excited to be connected with Mabel from Mia’s Papier through our mutual colleague Emma Givens She is a work from home mom like me and her business is so creative and unique. I absolutely love this custom wrapping paper that she made for my family! With so many friends and families being separated right now this is the perfect little “special touch” to any gift!

Konhaus Print and Marketing was one of the sponsors of “Keep it Local” after businesses could reopen in the Spring. That is how I met the owner Sarah Barr. I was more than happy to help to keep #centralpastrong
Konhaus really is a full service marketing company. If you want your logo on something, they can make it happen! They offer so many services for small businesses that really take the leg work out of your marketing needs!
My father and my grandfather were both small business owners and my husband and I own a small, family-owned business now. Small businesses are near and dear to my heart. I believe they’re the backbone of this country. They employ local people, serve local customers and help local organizations right in your own community.
I grew up watching my dad start a business from nothing and grow it into something successful. I’ve watched my husband work for years to build Bob Ruth Ford. I’ve now spent the last 9 months watching him work harder than he ever has to keep our family business alive not just for our family but for the families we employ and the community we live in.
You have the opportunity to help a business in your community by intentionally choosing where to shop this holiday season. Make a difference when you pick a gift by shopping small.
