Self Care For Moms For the Holidays with Rite Aid

If there was ever a year that moms deserved some self care for the holidays, it would be 2020. Many of us have had our worlds turned upside down in the last 8 months. With so many kids not actually attending school in school and moms across the country “working from home” we could use a little TLC.

That’s why I’m really excited to have partnered back up with Rite Aid to share some products you can buy at your local store for a little self care boost this holiday season! All the items in this post can be found in your local stores (with the exception of one, I’ll note below) or on online at www.riteaid.com. You don’t even need to leave your house if you don’t want to!

There’s really not a ton of time right now for trips to the day spa or a weekend away with girlfriends, so bring some self care home.  Better yet, drop some not so not subtle hints by sharing this post with those in your life that want to give you a little “glow up”!

Your immune system has to come first*

First things first: I firmly believe that self care starts internally with a healthy immune system.

A strong immune system is more important than ever. I personally take a whole regimen of supplements but Zinc and vitamin C are an absolute must. I take them both year round. If year round supplementation isn’t your thing, take them now until March when flu season settles down.

Moms all across the country are super stressed right now. Stress is known to weaken our immune systems. Magnesium, like Calm from Natural Vitality is a great supplement to combat anxiety and stress. It can also help you sleep better at night. Many people are deficient in magnesium. You can just mix 1 tsp of Calm into a glass of water before bed to help manage your stress levels.

1 tsp of Calm before bed can help you destress and get a good night sleep

Ashwagandha is another great supplement for stress. I really like this one from Youtheory, which is a full-spectrum blend. It may “help reduce stress,” “maintain normal cortisol levels” (which can be overproduced by your adrenal glands when you’re under stress), and “boost your mental and physical performance.”

I love carrying my reusable water bottle everywhere I go. It’s so much better than using plastic bottles (which can be filled with toxins). It’s also really easy to track how much you drink throughout the day by counting how many times you fill it up. This one by Takeya has a steel interior, is BPA free and has a silicone bottom so it never slides all over the place. The lid on this one is perfect for moms on the go. It opens easily with one touch and you never have to worry about leaving the lid somewhere because it stays attached even when opened.

Water doesn’t get the proper credit it deserves. It flushes out toxins, keeps you hydrated and helps with all types of internal body functions. Drink all the water.

Hair goals

Lately, I classify taking a shower, washing my hair and styling it as self care. I love the hair products from Love Beauty and Planet. This sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner with murumuru butter and rose smells so good. I’m also loving the 3-in-1 leave-in conditioner called The Mane Manager from Cake (yes, it really smells like cake). I don’t know about you but I love when my hair smells fresh and clean (again, it’s the little things). On days that self care is in short supply, dry shampoo is a mom’s best friend. I don’t always have time to wash my hair but I want to look like I did! The ‘Do Gooder from Cake as well is perfect for those days.

Give your skin a little TLC

Good makeup application starts before you even put any makeup on. Starting the process with a good alcohol-free toner like Humphreys Witch Hazel Soothe with Rose leaves your skin hydrated, clean, calm and conditioned. Adding a primer like “Thanks a Blot” from Doll Face is key for my skin during the holiday season when the weather is changing and my skin goes a little haywire.

Who doesn’t love a little sparkle during the holidays? This holiday gift set (which can only be purchased in your local Rite Aid store) from e.l.f. will give you just that with the included jelly highlighter. You can apply right at the top of your cheek bones and at the Cupid’s bow on your lips for a little pop. Finish your lips with the lip plumping gloss in this set and let your holiday look shine.

I also love finishing my makeup process with a setting spray. e.l.f. Makeup Mist and set is awesome. It has aloe, green tea and vitamins A, C and E to soothe and hydrate.

Last but not least, if you’re on the move this holiday season you can throw Doll Face’s Mattify and Perfect in your purse for touch ups!

(Holiday) season of life

This holiday season might look a little different for many moms, so staying healthy, taking a shower and “getting ready” might be all the self care that one can manage. That’s ok! (This is a season of life….this too shall pass). It doesn’t have to be an elaborate event. It truly is the little things. A few self care products and rituals from the comfort of your own home can add up to a big return for yourself.
